A 1-hour taster session for anyone over the age of 6 who is interested in having a go at archery!

Taster sessions cost £10 per person and we are able to take mixed-age groups of up to 4 people per session. Spectators are also welcome.

Each session will be lead by a member of our team of coaches and experienced archers, who will help you to shoot safely and confidently. Sessions will start with an introduction to shooting on the archery range and at the end you will have a chance to take part in a mini-competition or fun activity.

A beginners course is a fun introduction to archery that will leave you competent and able to shoot on your own at a club. We take archers from 8 years old.

Session 1

We begin by talking about safety, both of the archer and on the range. We then get you set up with the right equipment, demonstrate what you’re going to be doing and get you shooting as quickly as we can. The main objectives are to:

Braintree Bowmen is an archery club based near Braintree and open to anyone over the age of 8, supporting all levels from beginners to the experienced.

We have over 100 members and cater for those who prefer the social aspect in addition to providing access to qualified coaches and actively encouraging archers who want to compete at any level. We pride ourselves on our friendly atmosphere and host several club only fun competitions and social activities throughout the year.
